About Cedar Place

For more than 20 years, Cedar Place has been an affordable housing option for seniors. All apartments are subsidized by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Qualified tenants are 62 years of age or older or physically handicapped and must meet financial requirements. Those who qualify pay no more than 30% of their annual adjusted income for rent.

In total, Cedar Place has 50 apartments, 22 of which are assisted living units and 28 are independent living units.

Assisted living apartments are equipped with special amenities including a walk-in shower and wider doorways. After rent and board, tenants living in assisted living have three different levels of comfort/services to choose from.

  • Safe and secure entries
  • Convenient access to the Congregate Meals program, located a few feet away at Bethany Manor
  • Emergency call-lights in each apartment
  • A full time caretaker living on-site
  • Games, daily activities and other social events
  • Weekly prayer service(s) and Bible study
  • Transportation available
  • A library Access to a community room and a patio
  • In-house social events including potluck dinners, social coffee hours, bingo.

Homeward Clinic comes to Cedar Places each month for foot care, blood pressure checks, and blood sugar checks. The Heartland Senior Services bus provides transportation to the grocery store and to nearby Ames.
