Just What Do Our Values at Bethany Life Communites Mean?

(The following paragraphs are excerpted from an article by Bethany Life Communities' President and Chief Executive Officer, Betsy Warburton. Copies of the complete article can be obtained by telephoning 515-733-4325.)

As a faith-based organization, we have a deeply developed sense of vision, mission, and values, though these have not always been clearly articulated. Within the past year, we have worked to directly express our values to our residents, our residents' families, our staff, our partner churches, and our community. We feel these statements more accurately reflect what we do and where we are going as an organization that helps elders thrive ...

Benevolence: we strive to share our knowledge, expertise, and resources with those who share our mission of improving elder's lives. We also commit ourselves to being good corporate citizens of our city, state, and nation ...

Stewardship: we responsibly manage our God-given resources for the common good, allowing Bethany Life Communities to care also for those whose financial resources are limited without jeopardizing the financial stability or future ministry of this organization ...

Personal Growth: we believe that intellectual, spiritual, and emotional growth is possible for anyone of any age. We assist our elders and staff in realizing their potential ...

Innovation: we are devoted to solving problems creatively. Continuous quality improvement is integral to who we are and what we do ...

Teamwork: we work together to create seamless service for our elders. We envision a setting of hospitality where the "golden rule" is lived out among our elders and our staff ...

Relationships: we believe in the power and importance of relationships among our residents, their families, staff, and the community. We would not be anywhere without the relationships of so many people and organizations that have had apart in making us the organization that we are today ...

With our goal of providing the highest quality of care possible with a wide range of services, we need to challenge those with whom we have relationships to be active participants in helping us to reach these goals. Active participation means financial contributions as well as contributions of time and talent. Giving of ourselves to those we serve is at the heart of truly meaningful relationships.
