SIGNIFICANT HISTORICAL EVENTS

  • 1912: Plans laid for home for the aged and hospital for the sick. Officially named "Central Iowa Lutheran Sanitarium and Home Association."
  • 1913: Construction for 40-room brick and stone facility begun.
  • 1914: The Rev. and Mrs. K.K. Guttebo of Huxley called as Superintendent and Matron.

  • 1921: Ownership transferred to Norwegian Evangelical Lutheran Church.
  • 1930: Chapel addition built.
  • 1947: Hospital closed.
  • 1948: East Wing addition built.

  • 1954: Infirmary built to the West.
  • 1963: Reorganization as "Bethany Manor Corporation."

  • 1967: Nursing care wing completed — Volunteer program begins.
  • 1977: 129 bed facility built.

  • 1980: Cedar Place built.

  • 1990: Construction completed - East Wing, Chapel, Dining Room expansion.
  • 2001: North Wing (CCDI) dedicated.
  • 2002: Timberland Village opens.

  • 2005: First Twinhome built at Timberland Village

  • 2006: Start of "Walking Together in Faith" Chaplaincy Endowment Campaign
