Cedar Place
Cedar Place Transition
Bethany Life is announcing the sale of Cedar Place, marking an important transition for the community and the tenants it has served for more than forty-one years.
Cedar Place was originally built in 1984 as an independent living facility under HUD housing. In February 2005, Bethany Life expanded its services by opening an assisted living program within the HUD framework. After thoughtful evaluation, Bethany Life has made the decision to transition Cedar Place to new ownership, where it will return to its original purpose as an independent living community.
As part of this transition, the assisted living program at Cedar Place is anticipated to close by Spring 2026. The transition process will ensure tenants, families, and staff are supported every step of the way. All current independent living residents will be allowed to remain in their homes. “This decision was not made lightly,” said Kim Schilling, CEO of Bethany Life.
“Cedar Place has been a meaningful part of our mission and our community for forty-one years. Today, we announce not only the transfer of ownership but the closure of the assisted living program. We are deeply grateful to the tenants, families, and staff who have made Cedar Place such a special place.”
The decision to transfer ownership was driven by the increasing challenges associated with operating assisted living under HUD funding, which does not provide sufficient financial sustainability. By passing ownership to a company equipped to manage and support independent living housing long-term, Bethany Life is helping ensure the future of Cedar Place remains secure and tenant-focused.
While Cedar Place undergoes this transition, Bethany Life remains strong and forward-focused. The Households of Bethany, Timberland Village, and Bethany at Home will continue to thrive as the organization remains committed to the mission – caring for others with a Christian focus of hope, wellness and compassion.
Throughout the transition, Bethany Life remains committed to working closely with tenants, families, and community partners throughout the transition period, providing guidance, clear communication, and ongoing support.
